In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
This is a very special introduction to my heart. It is the very introduction from the gospel author and disciple many of us know as John the beloved. My humble place I write from is also connected in the identity of a beloved daughter and disciple.
Words have great power and influence over us. Studies back up the word in proceeding to inform us that “positive thoughts and speech, change our self-perception and how we perceive the world around us. Ultimately, this grants us the ability to shape our reality and change the world for the better.” (The Neuroscience Behind Our Words, by Lindsey Horton) God’s Word teaches us that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Proverbs 18:21 . You will reap the benefits or you will reap the consequences of your own words. God’s Word is working for us on our behalf when we are properly in agreement. God’s Word consistently speaks blessing over the individuals who follow His command. Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, (Psalm 119:2)
God’s Word is Authority
When Jesus taught before the people, the word often says “and they perceived He taught as one having authority”; as one with the power of whose will and commands must be submitted to by others and obeyed; having both physical and mental power. Jesus being the living breathing Word of God takes identity to a whole higher level. He spoke from what He was made of, “the Word made flesh.” As God is supreme, naturally in saying, so is His Word and Command. Who else would have authority with “The Word” besides the one who is made of it, believes in it, and holds it to be truth with their whole entire being? There was no questioning of God’s Word being truth to Jesus, and that is the position He taught from. Jesus’s words amplify this in John 14:6 as He said unto the disciples, “ I am the way, the truth, and the life…” This paints an image in the mind. The people perceived that Jesus wasn’t just teaching the word, but there was an enforcing authority and a compelling truth He carried full of grace and truth as the word would say!
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
Word made flesh and dwelling among men! I hear these words echo harmoniously for us! God’s word tells us that we are to live by the word! Matthew 4:4 puts this to words for us in saying, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” We are to consume the Word of God that we too can be made of it. We are called to be a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2 tells us. The transforming of your mind comes by nothing less than the word of God. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10: 17) Again, Jesus exemplified speaking with authority because He was the highest authoritative word of God made flesh! The word was the true DNA of Jesus. Jesus knew His design, will, intent, purpose, and word. We are called to follow Him in His example of showing us the way. We too are the word and breath of God. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7 We started as a word, uttered by a living voice, embodying a conception.
We are to mirror the same divine call and honor of Jesus. When God made creation, there was intent and purpose for the “living things” to produce in the earth, even concerning their environment that produces habitation for growth. That will preach, but we’ll save it for a later date. The earth and every living thing is created to produce. “Be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth.” These are God’s words following the creation of every “living creature and man.” This reflects our design. Jesus, the word of God and son came to produce, bring into existence, in the earth, the Living Authoritative Word of God inside of Him. Likewise, we are to be transformed into His image! For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. (Romans 8:29 ESV)
While the word says that Jesus taught as one having authority, more specifically the word proceeds to say, and not as the scribes. (Matthew 7:29) Again, He was not merely a teacher. This too is truth for us. We can have head knowledge and know the word of God. But do we apply it to be the very make up of who we are, being able to receive and join to one’s self, not to reject or withhold obedience.
But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
(James 1:25 ESV)
This is when we can walk in agreement as one having authority. Marrying and uniting into alignment with the spoken Word of God to the very purpose of our existence.
God’s Word is Backing Us Up
This is the great discovery of who we are when we come in alignment with our very own and very real “In the beginning ” narrative. This is through Jesus our mediator. As 1 Timothy 2:5 tells us, There is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, the human Christ Jesus. He is our king of kings over all! The Word says, He is making intercession on our behalf. Jesus, the Living Word is both mightily and lovingly for you! The Authoritative word of God is backing you up openly in the face of the enemy. For this reason was the son of God manifested, to destroy the work of the enemy. (1 John 3:8) Our enemy wants us to believe that we are on our own here in life and that we are not a beloved and intentional creation of God. Jesus wants us to come to know how much He is for us, with us, leading and guiding us. The same spirit in Him now rules and reigns in us as it bares witness of Jesus in whose image we are becoming likened unto. “He will glorify and honor Me, because He (the Holy Spirit) will take from what is Mine and will disclose it to you.” (John 16:14)
God’s Word is Transforming Our Lives
We have a word to give, with His word in us, to produce in the world around us. Again I state, it is our greater purpose to unite with the Living Word of God directly connected to our existence that is continuously maturing. We have an “in the beginning” word and purpose God has spoken uniquely and individually to us all. That is truly putting The Word to it’s highest purpose, power and ruling. What’s yours is indeed your domain! There’s only one you and there is only one me, with a specific God breathed word. His Living Word is expressed through us in many different ways and avenues. That is part of ministry! There is creativity to be put to use. There is favor and opportunities available because of your very existence and obedience. The Word and Spirit of God from within us is directly connected to the fruit we bear in the collaborations, partnerships, job opportunities, divine relationships and open doors in our lives. There is much goodness, favor, and good works planned for you! You only need to get in alignment. You are God’s Living word. You are His beloved brought to produce in the earth. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
May you walk in unity with God’s spoken word in you, over you and for you!

I love that you put into perspective that we ARE God’s Living Word! I think at times we can definitely miss that and not fully walk in the authority that we possess! We are empowered as well as are in a position to be examples to others. As scripture says “We are living Epistles read of men”.
